Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu, co-founders of SO-IL and winners of this year’s AR New into Old awards, will present their intervention at Meisenthal’s Site Verrier, a former glass factory that now houses a museum about glass, workshop facilities, and a space for performances and exhibitions, and take part in a conversation about the transformation of industrial structures, the use of concrete and whether acts of demolition are ever justifiable.
Site Verrier was chosen by a judging panel that included Mohamadreza Ghodousi, founder of ZAV Architects and winner of the 2021 AR New into Old awards with Farsh Film Studio in Tehran as well as co‑founder of Amateur Architecture Studio Lu Wenyu and founder of Malta-based Valentino Architects Sandro Valentino. They will also join the virtual event to share their views on the judging process, the winning project and the importance of preserving, adapting and transforming existing buildings in the face of the climate crisis.
