StudioErrante’s Wood and the Dog in Ghisola, Italy

A delicate addition to an Italian village

A minuscule, sensitive addition to the North Italian village of Ghisola, Wood and the Dog is little more than a firewood storeroom and seating space. Reinforced concrete forms a base and the back wall, into which a wooden frame structure is slotted. With untreated chestnut used for the frame, and burnt chestnut panels creating the exterior walls, the palette is warm and welcoming, the small cut-away section designed to be a seat for both people and animals.
