W Partner: Zaha Hadid Architects

‘Zaha didn’t just break glass ceilings and pull down barriers; she shattered them’

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) was founded on principles that are not confined by boundaries. Zaha didn’t just break glass ceilings and pull down barriers; she shattered them – and invited everyone of any gender, race, background and orientation to join her on the journey.

We strongly believe in a collective, multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving and are proud to have a team of 50 different nationalities in our London office. Currently 38 per cent of our architects are women, and 29 per cent are black, Asian and minority ethnic. We continually strive to increase our diversity, fostering a collaborative research culture throughout every aspect of our work that enables all talents and disciplines to learn from each other and progress. ZHA has supported the W programme for many years, mirroring the increasing demands from young women and men that their profession become more inclusive. Being a programme partner gives our hugely talented teams excellent opportunities to engage with the wider profession and exchange ideas.

The programme recognises the immense contribution by all architects to the richness of our built environment. Diversity is vital to the process, and to the progress we make every day.
